Reuters is reporting on a deal between Apple and InterDigital for a seven year licensing agreement to provide wireless technology for Apple’s iPhone and future mobile devices that may be released.

Apple was the best selling smartphone in July (source: iSuppli), representing 1.8% of handsets sold in the US! Based on these figures iSuppli estimates that Apple will shift 4.5M this year, and guestimates (somehow) worldwide shipments of 30M by 2011.

Someone visiting my site today, came from a link from another site, which mentioned an article in the Straits Times (around Jan 2006) stating that “reliable sources” have informed them of Apple’s intention to open an iTunes Store, and physical Apple Store in Singapore on a similar timetable.
