Instead of forking out $50 - $100 to get your iPhone unlocked, you now have an open source alternative. Thanks to the hard working folks over at the iPhone Dev Wiki, there is now a software solution that allows you to sim-unlock your phone.
Tutorials are still being developed but some early instructions have appeared. Currently they are a bit techy, so unless you fit into the ‘uber-g33k’ category, we’d suggest waiting a few more days for an automated solution to be released.
So if you’re an iPhone user in Asia, you don’t need to buy knock offs from dodgy looking shops in Taiwan any more. You can get one shipped from the US, and unlock it yourself!
